HISTORY

In 1976, Nurse Executives of Colorado formed the Colorado Society of Nurse Executives (CSNE), which was a member of the National Association of Nurse Executives.  This mission of CSNE was to be a powerful voice influencing the environment that promotes the health of the society.  Pat Cussins was the first President of CSNE.

In April of 2001, the mission changed along with the name of CSNE.  The organization became the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders (CONL).  The mission was to unify, support and mentor Colorado nursing leaders in order to optimize nursing influence in all health care environments.  Along with the mission a vision statement was developed – “To shape the future of health care in Colorado through innovative nursing leadership.”

The organization is divided into six districts which have directors.  Other positions are treasurer, secretary, historian, director at-large, president, president-elect, and past president.  Meetings are held four times a year with two of these joining seminars/conferences.  Membership is welcome at all of the functions.
